Missionary Biography
Ricky & Cindy
Davis
Open Bible Baptist Church
Brooklyn, Connecticut
The Laborers
Both Ricky and Cindy had doubts about their salvation.
Ricky had made a profession of faith in high school; received
assurance of salvation at a later time; and afterwards, the
Lord confirmed his call to the ministry. Cindy finally made
sure she was saved in January 1991. They are homeschooling
their three children: Joshua-11, Hannah-9; and Stephen-6.
The Work
Brother Davis pastored for five years
at Calvary Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA. Three-years later,
the Lord called him to church planting. By January 1998, they
were with Baptist Home Missions and started Open Bible Baptist
Church in Plainfield, CT, that Easter Sunday. After
one year, the church was chartered; and eleven months later,
they moved their services to Brooklyn, CT, to meet in a renovated
Grange Hall. The church purchased that building in December
2000. They have an attendance of 35-50 on Sunday mornings,
with three, recent professions of faith as a result of their
church people witnessing and Hannah sharing the gospel with
her friend next door. For the last six months, Ricky has been
conducting home Bible studies with two families and four individuals
by using the Source of Light materials. They are seeing greater
excitement, growth, and maturing among their people. This
month, they are praying for God's blessings with a revival
meeting with Dan Souza from Waterbury, CT.
