The Laborers

Steve was saved at the age of twelve. He was called to the ministry in 1995 and joined Baptist Home Missions in 1996. He established Shields Chapel Baptist Church in 1997. Kathy was saved at the age of sixteen.

The Work

Shields Chapel Baptist Church was established in September, 1997. The current attendance at the services is averaging in the 20's. Steve has also begun a radio ministry that draws upon his background in science and is focused on spreading the gospel through a study of creation vs. evolution. Though the church is not large, they are very active in supporting missions, and currently support ten missionaries.

The Area

 

The town of Bluewell, West Virginia has a population of around 5,000, with many living in rural areas. The Church of Christ and the Southern Baptists are very strongly represented in the area, with many involved in the Pentecostal churches as well.

• Son Christopher is attending Bob Jones University Seminary and getting married in December
• Spiritual needs of families within our church
• Evangelistic outreach to the community
